about

DIG AND DEMAND: Queer Diasporic Vietnamese Artist for Social Justice is being led byTrang Tran and Jaq Nguyen Victor.

Trang is a 1.5 generation vietnamese queer and gender nonconforming
individual. They believe in manifesting a path to live their truth
as bright and powerful as the full moon. It is also their stance that mental health is part of an individual’s holistic health and fundamental as a way to to live a meaningful and happy life.

Jaq is doing their Vietnamese-best to create work that is both super silly and super serious. That includes Drugs for Unicorns (short film), Decolonizing is Like Hard (clowning), and Gender Assimilation: A
Rebuttal (self-revelatory theatre), and more! Jaq received a 2015 nomination for "Best Featured Actress" by the San Francisco Bay Area Critics Circle (SFBACC) for their role in The Kid Thing at the New Conservatory Theatre Center (NCTC). They are also finishing a MA in Counseling Psychology from the Drama Therapy program at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS).

lyrics

But there is another way to think about gratitude, the way it can be wielded culturally and politically to create subservience and suppression and not questioning things. It gets tricky ..."
