about

I firmly believe that adolescents should study Leonard Cohen in their sexed class. Studying the mechanics of reproduction -‘sex is when you put this thing into this other one, and be careful, you can get pregnant or catch a disease’- well, this kind of explaining sex to teenagers does not take into account desire and sensuality, and that breeds adults who look at sex the same way they look at life: a utilitarian opportunity to win, earn and achieve.

lyrics

"You came to me this morning
And you handled me like meat
You'd have to be a man to know
How good that feels, how sweet.

I loved you when you opened
Like a lily to the heat
You see, I am just another snowman
Standing in the rain and sleet

Who loved you with his frozen love
His second hand physique
With all he is and all he was
A thousand kisses deep.

Our perfect porn aristocrat
So elegant, so cheap
I'm old but I'm still into that
A thousand kisses deep."

"Your crazy fragrance all around
You secrets all in view
My lost, my lost was saying found
My don’t was saying do.

They ought to give my heart a medal
For letting go of you
When I turned my back to the devil
I turned my back to the angel too. "

“I’m traveling light
It’s au revoir
My once so bright
My fallen star

I’m running late
They’ll close the bar
I used to play
One mean guitar”

Leonard Cohen is here to remind us that we can spend our lives trying to figure out how to live forever. Or that we can enjoy the ride and help the next generation do the same.

"I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though it all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah"
